Duncan

Let's talk about the name Duncan. This name is old. Beautifully, powerfully old. It comes from the Scottish Gaelic name Donnchadh, and it carries a meaning that is nothing short of legendary - "dark warrior" or "brown warrior." This is a name that was spoken in the highlands of Scotland during the medieval period, around campfires, in great halls, by people who valued courage above almost everything else. And it was the name of a real Scottish king. An 11th century king, whose story became so significant it inspired one of the most famous plays ever written. When Shakespeare sat down to write Macbeth, Duncan was already a name that carried the weight of history. Today, Duncan is uncommon but steady - the kind of name that never chases trends because it never needed to. In the UK it holds on quietly, with a loyal following. And in popular culture, Duncan MacLeod from Highlander brought that warrior spirit right onto the screen. The traits people associate with this name - courage, loyalty, resilience - they're not invented. They echo right back to those Celtic roots. Duncan is a name for someone who doesn't need to shout to be heard. The history does that for them. If this is your name, you carry something ancient and honourable. And that is genuinely something to be proud of.
