Willow

Willow. That name sounds like a breeze finding its way through quiet branches. It comes from English, with roots in Old English, and it was first used as a surname in medieval England before becoming a given name. The meaning is often described as “graceful, slender tree,” symbolizing flexibility and resilience. In other words, Willow is what strength looks like when it stays gentle.

If your friends say you’re creative or intuitive, if you naturally adapt and feel things deeply, that fits the spirit of the name. Willow is associated with being empathetic, artistic, and adaptable, like the tree that can bend with the wind and still stand.

And Willow has variations that feel distinct when spoken, like Wylow and Willo. They don’t replace your name. They show how your identity can travel while keeping the same lyrical core.

There’s also a joyful cultural sparkle to it: Willow Smith and Willow Shields are both widely recognized, and in fiction you might know Willow Rosenberg from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Even music carries it, from “Willow” by Taylor Swift.

One fun, science-friendly fact: willow trees contain natural salicylic acid, similar to aspirin. So your name is tied to something that helps people feel better and move through the day. If you’re Willow, that’s not small. That’s real comfort.
