Lauryn

The name Lauryn carries two layers of meaning, and both of them are beautiful. The first comes from the laurel - that ancient crowned wreath of victory and honor, worn by poets and champions throughout history. The second meaning, equally lovely, is sweetly singing. So right at the heart of this name, there is both achievement and music.

The name itself is rooted in Latin, and you will recognize its close relatives - Lauren, Loren, and the more distinct Lorraine - each one a variation shaped by different cultures and different times. But Lauryn, spelled this way, is something more specific. This particular spelling emerged in the twentieth century, a deliberate choice to give the name its own identity, its own sound on the page.

And perhaps no one made that spelling more recognizable than Lauryn Hill. Singer, songwriter, artist - her album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is widely considered one of the most important records ever made. She carried this name into something extraordinary.

Lauryn Williams brought it to the Olympics, competing at the highest level in sport. Two very different stages - music and athletics - and the same name standing tall on both.

Today, Lauryn sits in that moderately rare space. Not everywhere, not forgotten. Just distinctive enough to feel like your own.

People named Lauryn are often described as creative, intuitive, expressive, and independent. A name for someone who thinks deeply and finds their own way of seeing the world.

Laurel crowned. Sweetly singing. That is yours.
