Jacqueline

Jacqueline. That name feels like silk and sunshine, elegant and steady at the same time. Its meaning is often given as “supplanter,” or interpreted as “holder of the heel,” with a sense of confident stepping forward. And it has a clear lineage: it’s the French feminine form of Jacob, so it traces back through Hebrew origins, carried into French as “Jacques,” and then shaped into Jacqueline in medieval France.

So your name, Jacqueline, isn’t random. It’s connected to a family of names that have traveled through language and time, gathering grace along the way.

You might hear Jackie, Jacqui, or Jaclyn, and those are distinct-sounding, affectionate forms that still feel unmistakably like Jacqueline. Each one keeps your name’s core music while matching different moments of life.

And there’s a reason Jacqueline feels internationally familiar today: it rose even more in global recognition thanks to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. When a name becomes visible like that, people begin to associate it with poise, leadership, and real presence.

With “July 28” as a name day in some traditions, the name is also celebrated in a way that reminds people it’s meant to endure. If your name is Jacqueline, you have a classic name with real roots, carried beautifully into the present.
