Daphne

Daphne. Just say it once, and you can feel how it moves. It comes from Ancient Greece, with a Greek root, and its meaning is beautifully simple: the laurel tree. In the classical world, the laurel wasn’t just a plant. It symbolized honor, grace, and transformation, the kind of change that turns a moment into a story.

And there is a beloved myth behind Daphne too. She was a nymph who transformed into a laurel tree to escape Apollo, becoming part of the very symbol that carries her name forward. That’s why Daphne is often linked with grace and purity, and with becoming something new while staying true to yourself.

Across languages and pronunciations, your name has cousins you might recognize: Dafne, Dafny, Daphnee. And if you’ve ever seen Daphne du Maurier’s writing, or Daphne Zuniga on screen, you know this name shows up with presence.

So if you’re Daphne, remember this: your name holds a whole arc of meaning. It’s old, it’s lyrical, and it’s meant to be remembered.
