Clarissa

Clarissa. What a luminous name that is. Even the sound of it feels elegant, doesn't it? Each syllable opens up a little more light. And that is exactly what it means. Clarissa comes from the Latin word clarus, meaning clear, bright, or famous. So your name, at its very foundation, means bright clear light. It first appeared during the Middle Ages, born from that rich Latin tradition that gave the world so many names still carried with pride today. And from that same root came a whole family of names: Clara, Clarice, Clarita, Clare. All of them carrying that same core of brightness. But Clarissa, with all its letters, carries the fullest version of it. It had a beautiful moment of popularity in the 1960s, and today it sits in that special category of names that feel both rare and completely timeless. You do not hear it every day, which means when someone says it, it lands. People named Clarissa are traditionally associated with intelligence and grace. A combination that suits a name meaning bright light rather perfectly. In the world of psychology and literature, Clarissa Pinkola Estes gave us some of the most celebrated writing on the human spirit. And in popular culture, Clarissa Darling from the beloved series Clarissa Explains It All made the name feel witty, warm, and wonderfully original. Your name day falls on July 12th, a little celebration sitting right in the heart of summer. Fitting, really, for a name that means light. If your name is Clarissa, you carry something genuinely rare. A name with centuries of history, a meaning full of clarity and brightness, and a sound that is simply impossible to forget.
