Arlo

Arlo is the kind of name that feels like a horizon. Its meaning points to a “fortified hill,” or simply “from the hill.” It comes from Old English through England, with medieval origins. So there’s a sense of steadiness built into it, a place that can hold ground.

What I love most is how Arlo balances gentleness with adventure. It’s creative and calm, yet it has that “let’s explore” spirit. That makes sense with its roots, because hills are both protective and open, raised enough to see farther.

Arlo also has cousins you might recognize by sound: Arloa, Arlow, and Arlon. They’re distinct enough to feel like variations you could hear on different days, in different places, while still feeling like the same name-family.

And in modern life, Arlo has truly gained momentum, helped along by namesakes like Arlo Guthrie and Arlo Parks. If your name is Arlo, you’re part of a beautiful shift: a name that once sounded old, now feels fresh, thoughtful, and confidently yours.
