About the name Amber

Amber. Warm, golden, and completely one of a kind.

Unlike most names that come from ancient languages or old family traditions, Amber takes a different and genuinely fascinating path. It comes directly from a gemstone. Real amber, the golden fossilized resin of ancient trees, preserved over millions of years, carrying the warmth of sunlight inside it. That is where your name lives.

The name Amber came into use as a given name in 19th century England, born from a growing love of nature-inspired names. And what a choice it was. Because amber the gemstone is not just beautiful. It is ancient, it is luminous, and it literally holds time inside it. Scientists have found insects and plant life preserved within it for tens of millions of years. There is something extraordinary about that.

Amber had its golden era in the 1980s, when it felt like the perfect name for a generation full of energy and warmth. Today it is less common, which makes it feel all the more personal when you meet someone who carries it.

People named Amber are often described as warm, energetic, and confident. Much like the stone itself, there is a brightness to this name that draws people in.

The name has been worn by some well-known faces too. Amber Rose, a model and cultural icon known for her bold confidence and presence. And in the world of television, Amber appeared memorably in the beloved series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

If your name is Amber, you carry something ancient, something glowing, and something genuinely rare. Just like the stone itself, there is real beauty preserved in you.
